IF THE OCEAN COULD SING
In this piece, I explored concepts of deep listening and enchantment in relation to Atlantic underwater soundscapes. Combining upcycled textiles with interactive sound design, I created an immersive sonic-visual environment that encourages curiosity and reverence.
Interaction with touch-sensitive textiles brings underwater soundscapes in and out of the sonic space, giving individuals the opportunity to explore these waters and create their own underwater composition.
With recordings from Stellwagon Bay woven into musical instrumentation, I intend to question the notion of listening. What is worth listening to? What does it mean to listen? How do we learn to listen to non-human entities? What is the value in listening to natural environments?
